[Also in Division H2] A circuit for triggering a semi-conductorcontrolled rectifier (SCR) comprises a sawtooth generator utilizing capacitor 9 and transistor 8 and synchronized with the supply mains, the D.C. level of the sawtooth being adjustable at 7, the output being passed via a transistor 5 to trigger a mono-stable multivibrator comprising transistors 1, 2 at a time in each cycle of the supply waveform depending on the setting of resistor 7. A further circuit (Fig. 2, not shown) comprising a transistor and capacitor may be connected in parallel with transistor 2 so as to provide only a limited number of such pulses for triggering an SCR which may be transformercoupled to the collector circuit of transistor 1.
