Abstract

An automatic sprinkler fire-fighting system of the dry pipe type comprises a plurality of deluge systems arranged spatially over a plurality of zones, a single water delivery system supplying all the water pipe systems and including one deluge valve, a main air pressure system common and connected to all the detector systems and to the deluge valve normally to maintain the latter closed by air pressure, and relay valve means connected between each detector system and the main air pressure system and maintained closed by the air pressure in the detector system until such air pressure is released by operation of one of the detecting elements whereupon the relay valve means is opened to atmosphere causing a fall in pressure in the main air pressure system to open the deluge valve and deliver water from the water delivery system to and out of the water pipe system.
