Abstract

1,075,577. Endless conveyers. NUCLEAR CHEMICAL PLANT Ltd. Nov. 1, 1965 [Nov. 2, 1964], No. 44664/64. Heading B8A. A continuously moving conveyer 10 comprises two parallel endless chains with rectangular cross-section carrier tubes 11 pivoted at 12 so as to hang downwards. Each tube 11 can hold two boxes 14 the action of feeding a fresh box into one end of the tube 11 displacing the two boxes 14 in the tube 11 so that one box 14 is discharged from the other side of the conveyer 10. The boxes 14 slide down a roller conveyer 15 and are fed by a ram 18 reciprocable in a fixed cylinder 19 to a roller platform 20. A transfer assembly comprising pick-up arms 23 and a cylinder 25 with a ram 26 is carried on a carriage 24 mounted on rails 22. The carriage 24 moves at the same speed as the conveyer 10 while the ram 26 advances to push a box 14 into a tube 11. The displaced box 14 is received on a rollersupport 28 mounted on rails 29 to move in synchronism with the transfer mechanism. When the transfer of boxes 14 in one tube 11 is complete the carriage 24 returns along the rails 22 to repeat the cycle.
