Abstract

1,074,380. Watches. MONTRES ROLEX S.A. March 8, 1966, No. 10027/66. Heading G3T. A non rotatable push button 1, 4 for a timepiece comprises a sleeve 9 screwed on the push button, the sleeve being adapted to occupy a rest position (see Fig. 2) in which it allows the push button to move freely and a working position in which the sleeve bears on the timepiece casing 3 so that it exerts an axial force on the push button which compresses a waterproof joint 7 and also locks the push button. Splines 6 on the push button head 4 engage splines 5 on a tube 2, screwed with a waterproof joint into the case 3, to prevent rotation but allow axial movement of the push button. When the sleeve, which is held captive on the push button by a flange 9a, is unscrewed the head 4 may be depressed against the pressure of a spring 14 so that a shaft 1 attached to the head slides within the tube 2. Seals 7, 8 maintain a water tight joint for all positions of the shaft. On screwing the sleeve 9 downwards into engagement with the case 3 a shoulder 1a of the stem compresses the seal 7 thereby ensuring a watertight joint
