Abstract

1,074,164. Boxes for chicks. THORNBER BROS. Ltd. Jan. 12, 1966 [April 28, 1965], No. 17907/65. Heading B&P. An open-topped crush-proof box is made from resin impregnated wood wool, straw or other coarse fibrous material, having numerous small holes to allow passage of air, the internal surface of the flow sloping gently downwardly from the walls to prevent overcrowding of chicks etc. into the corners, and the external surface of the flow being so shaped as to ensure flow of air between stacked boxes. The box may have a cardboard lid with air holes in the top and depending skirt. The box is divided by shallow ridges on the floor crossing at right angles.
