A draw bar 11 mounting a coupling 12 is provided with a U-shaped bracket 13 having holes therethrough for a locking-pin 14 having a hinged end portion 15. Chains 16, 17 retained by the pin and held apart by the bar 11 are connected to the trailer to form safety connections. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the pin is threaded at one end, and in Fig. 3 (not shown) the pin is retained by a wire clip. In another embodiment a second U- shaped bracket is provided on the bar 11, the end link of each chain being retained between the arms of the first and second brackets.
