Abstract

The tyre chain has in its inner part (6) a curved fitting bar (12) which is detachably connected to an associated side chain part (9) by means of two coupling elements (10, 11), which side chain part (9) is coupled to a running part (1) of the tyre chain by means of hooks (5). The fitting bar (12) is constructed to be spring-elastic about the axis of the tyre so that it can be bent together and thus the tyre chain can be stored in a space-saving manner. In order to prevent the fitting bar (12) tearing under the tensile forces acting when the tyre chain is in use, the bar (12) is attached to a second side chain part (8) of a side chain bar (7) which can transmit the tensile forces satisfactorily. This attachment of the fitting bar (12) has the advantage that it is not necessary to attach holding means to the ends of the bars.
