Abstract

A pigmented latex paint is based on a butadiene-styrene copolymer having a ratio of butadiene to styrene of from 70:30 to 50:50. Suitable pigments include iron oxides, chromic oxide, nickel-titanium yellow, titanium dioxide and organic pigments. Fillers, e.g. mica, quartz flour and talc, may be included. The usual latex paint additives such as emulsifying, dispersing and wetting agents, and thickeners such as methyl cellulose and hydroxyethyl cellulose may also be present. Petroleum hydrocarbons are an optional additive.ALSO:Cement roofing tiles are insulated against efflorescence by applying to them a pigmented latex paint based on a styrene-butadiene copolymer having a ratio of styrene to butadiene of from 70:30 to 50:50. Suitable pigments include iron oxides, chromic oxide, nickel-titanium yellow, titanium dioxide and organic pigments. Fillers, e.g. mica, quartz flour and talc, may be included. The usual latex paint additives such as emulsifying, dispersing and wetting agents, and thickeners such as methyl cellulose and hydroxyethyl cellulose may also be present. Petroleum hydrocarbons are an optional additive. The paint is preferably applied by spraying.
