Abstract

1,167,265. Bituminous insulating layers. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 22 March, 1967 [2 April, 1966], No. 13434/67. Heading B2K. Bituminous insulating layers are produced by spraying onto a support an aqueous cationic or anionic bitumen emulsion and an aqueous cationic or anionic rubber latex, both of these emulsions being of the same sign (i.e. both cationic or anionic), simultaneously with an aqueous solution of an emulsifying agent of opposite sign, thereby effecting coagulation of the emulsions to form a continuous film. A double head spray gun may be used for the spraying. Stoichiometric quantities of the anionic and cationic components may be used. The layers may be applied to metals, concrete, walls of brick, stone and natural rock.
