Abstract

1,073,101. Percussive drills. ATLAS COPCO A.B. Jan. 4, 1966 [Jan. 19, 1965], No. 297/66. Heading B4C. A percussive rock drill bit comprises wings 4, 5, 6, 7 mounting cutting inserts 9, the drill being provided with reaming portions 11 having leading and trailing edges 13, 14. The reaming portions 11 are slightly less in diameter than the wings and are adapted to clear away any chippings which would jam the drill. Holes (20, 21, Figs. 3 and 4), are provided for flushing liquid. The drill bit is connected to a drill rod 3 by means of a screw thread 2; more than one drill rod may be coupled together by means of sleeves 22 having wings 23 formed with reaming edges 24, 25.
