Abstract

1,071,965. Web coating apparatus. KALLE A.G. Sept. 2, 1964 [Sept. 5, 1963], No. 35973/64. Heading D1L. [Also in Division G2] Web or sheet material 4 carrying an electrostatic latent image, to be developed with liquid, is fed by rollers 7, 7a, 7b, 7c over an elongated slot 2a extending across this width of the material. The slot 2a is at the upper end of a capillary duct, adjustable in width by movement of plates 3, 3a, with respect to a container 1 connected to a resevoir 5, which maintains a constant liquid level at slot 2a. A grid 8 extends over the width of slot 2a, to obviate slight fluctuations in liquid level, and improve contact between the liquid and material 4. In a modification, a biasing potential is applied to a roller (9) Fig. 2 (not shown) and electrode (10). Liquid level may be maintained by a float (not shown), or under the control of a photo-electric cell (not shown).
