Abstract

1,071,740. Knitting-machines. W. L. CARROLL. Sept. 1, 1965 [May 25, 1965], No. 37277/65. Heading D1C. A pattern mechanism for a multifeed circular machine comprises a pattern wheel 14 containing needle-actuating jacks, selected by pins mounted in the wheel wall and engaging a continuous punched tape 232, and held in the retracted or advanced position by a cam 146. Jacks (100) Figs. 7, 8 (not shown) are pivotally mounted in the wheel and are urged to the advanced position through slots (38) by a resilient member (84). Selected jacks remain in the advanced position by location of their associated pins (116), in holes in the plastic tape when however a pin (124) engages an imperforate portion of the tape it forces the associated jack into the retracted position. Cam (146) engages follower means (106) of each jack and maintains it in its selected position. The cam is spring mounted and yields to any misaligned jack. At the other side of the wheel all jacks are moved to the advanced position by cam means 156 prior to reselection.
