1,071,476. Blast furnace lining members. KUZNETSKY METALLURGICHESKY KOMBINAT. Nov. 5, 1964, No. 45107/64. Heading F4B. A lining member 1 for a blast furnace comprises a vertically mounted cast iron plate, bolted to the jacket 2, and containing cooling tubes 3, the plate being formed with projections 5 and hollows 6 to help form a protective layer of slag over the working surface, which is partly formed of refractory brick 8 built into the plate. The cooling tubes may be formed as coils connected horizontally in series, or as straight vertical tubes connected in vertical series for evaporative cooling. Gaps between adjacent plates are filled with iron putty.
