A load-bearing panel, which may comprise the floor of a transport container, comprises a number of successively inverted elongated elements 5 (Fig. 5, not shown) of triangular section with concave abutting faces, assembled between outer layers, and secured thereto by adhesive. The elements may comprise steel, aluminium or plastics shells filled with foam resin, e.g. of polyurethane, polystyrene or polyvinyl, foamed in situ. The edges of the outer layers may be extended, turned up and secured together by adhesive. The spaces between the abutting concave faces of the elements may be filled with glass fibre or fabric impregnated with thermoset resin. Alternatively the elements may comprise preformed foam resin units wrapped in glass fibre fabric or longitudinally extended glass threads impregnated with resin, or wound with such material. Resins usable are epoxy resins, polyesters, polyurethanes, polyamides, polyvinylacetates, resorcinol-furfural condensation products, polymethyl cyano acrylates and condensed ketones.
