Abstract

1,069,385. Centrifugally moulding tubes. BASLER STœCKFARBEREI A.G. Aug. 4, 1964 [July 26, 1963], No. 30952/64. Heading B5A. In a centrifugal casting process, reinforcing fibrous material and plastics material are introduced into a mould 1, supported upon rotatable rollers 3, by means of a reciprocable distributing head 14 carried by a reversibly driven conveyer 11. Plastics material or components thereof from tanks 17, and a filler from tank 18, if required, are fed to the head via pumps 16 and an extensible tube 15, through which compressed air from line 19 is blown. Chopped fibrous material from roving 24 is also fed by compressed air to the head through an extensible tube 25. The mould is rotated slowly whilst the material is applied thereto and then speeded up and heated to perform the moulding and then subsequently cooled. Coil 29 provides the heating and cooling means. Alternatively, the plastics material may be applied to a tippable trough located in the mould whilst the fibrous material is applied through the head. The fibrous reinforcement may be applied as a single long strand.
