Abstract

1,069,332. Packaging-machines. IVERS LEE A.G. April 29, 1965 [May 15, 1964], No. 18074/65. Heading B8C. Individual metal packing pockets 19, Fig. 2, made from metal lined with plastics material are closed by a common tape 16 of the same material. Discs of the material, stamped from a strip (1), Fig. la (not shown), in a stamping device (2), are deformed to a cup shape (8), Fig. lb (not shown), with a rim (9), by deep-drawing punches (7). The cup-rims (9) are then cut to the required shape by the cutters (12), Fig. 1c (not shown). After filling, the cups are arranged in a space-saving manner and closed by heatsealing the rims of the cups to the tape 16 by the welding jaws (17, 18), Fig. 1 (not shown). The rims may have ripping tabs 21 or (21a), Fig. 3 (not shown), which are not welded to the tape. Perforations may be made between the cups so that a single closed container may be separated easily from the packing strip, or scored lines on the pockets may be provided, defining a strip which is removed from the pocket wall with the tab 21.
