Abstract

1,069,270. Separating and stimulating seeds. "TECHNOIMPEX" MAGYAR GEPIPARI KULKERESKEDELMI VALLALAT. Sept. 6, 1965 [June 4, 1964], No. 47973/63. Heading A2Q. [Also in Division B2] Seeds to be treated are pased over a sloping surface and through an electric field of a seed stimulator 22 adjustably positioned above the surface. The surface is in the form of a diaphragm (30), Fig. 3 (not shown) made of synthetic fabric and is positioned by laths (31) on the upper part (1) of the table (1), (2) which is adjustable to a sloping position by adjustment means 3a. The seeds are fed by a hopper 9 on to the surface which is vibrated by both an eccentric 6 driven by a motor 14 and a hammer 34, the action causing the seeds to flow through the electric field and then off the table via separating plates 10 into hoppers 11 having bagging outlets 12. Air is blown upwardly through the table via bellows (28), distributers (27) and a throttle plate (26a) provided with openings adjustable by a slide (26). Dust is entrained by the air stream which enters a hood 17 and passes through filters 16 provided with a dust collection bag 18 before returning to the inlet of fan 7. The air is heated by either an element 19 or an infra-red lamp positioned above the table. The seed stimulator 22 is charged with high voltage to cause an electric field between grids (33) and the air distributers (27) which are earthed, the effect being to stimulate reduced or latent embryonic biological life and increase the biological value and germinating power of the seeds.
