Abstract

1,068,955. Street lighting fittings. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Aug. 17, 1964 [Sept. 3, 1963], No. 33579/64. Heading F4R. A bracket which is mounted at one end on a roadside pole 3 and carries a luminaire 4 at its other end comprises an inverted U - shaped channel member 19 the open bottom of which is closed by a hinged cover member 21 carrying auxiliary equipment, the cover member and the equipment thereon being removable and replaceable as a unit. The cover member has two hinge pins which are releasably engaged with hinge hooks 44 at the pole-mounted end of the channel member, and the opposite end of the cover is secured by a fastener 63 so that the cover acts as a compression strut to strengthen the bracket. The auxiliary equipment may include a photo-electric control 70 located beneath a transparent dome 79 on the channel member. Means are described for securing the bracket to the side or top of the pole.
