Abstract
1,068,028. Reflecting objectives. SIR HOWARD GRUBB PARSONS & CO. Ltd. Aug. 31, 1964 [Sept. 18, 1963], No. 36781/63. Heading G2J. An optical system comprises a spherical concave mirror 3, a correcting plate 1 at a distance from the mirror greater than its focal length, an aperture stop 2 and a positive multi-component field flattening lens 4 located between the mirror 3 and the focal plane 5 of the system and near to the plane 5. With such a multi-component lens 4 aberrations may be kept to a minimum although sufficient space is left between lens 4 and the flat photographic plate at 5 to insert an oscillating chopper 6 which is useful when determining the speed of artificial satellites photographed through such an objective. Optical data are given for the single example shown.
