Abstract

1,067,634. Bag-filling machines. BUHLER GEB. Feb. 11, 1966 [Feb. 19, 1965; July 2, 1965], No. 6164/66. Heading B8C. A reciprocating plate 9, Fig. 1, which beats sacks 12 laterally during filling with bulk material, is resiliently mounted so that it adapts itself to the inclination of a sack during beating. In the embodiment illustrated, the plate 9 is secured to a shaft (8) by supports 34 {see also Figs. 2, 3, not shown), which are angularly adjustable about the shaft to alter the stationary inclination of the plate 9. The shaft 8 is vibrated by the action of a connecting rod 6, eccentrically mounted on a driving shaft 5, and links 11. The connections between the rod, links and shaft 8 are provided by resilient rubber bushings (10), 30 respectively, while the other ends of the links are attached to brackets 42 on base-plate 1 by similar rubber bushes 40. Thus the bushes take up the angular variations between the plate 9, links 11 and rod 6, thereby allowing the plate 9 to adjust its own inclination to that of the sack during beating. The base-plate 1 is weighted, e.g. by concrete, to damp the vibrations of the device, similarly vibration damping elements 44 are provided between base-plate and base frame 45. During beating, the sack 12 is suspended from a bell-type sack filling arrangement 14. In a second embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown), the plate 9 is connected to the shaft 8 by support plates (60), mounted on the shaft 8 by additional bushes (57). In a modification, resilient rods may be used in place of the links 11. In a third embodiment, Fig. 5 (not shown), a beater plate (19) is resiliently mounted on rods (17), through bearings (18), springs (20) providing the resilient mounting. In this case the vibratory motion is again obtained through the rod 6 eccentrically mounted on the shaft 5. Control means, e.g. timers, are provided on the motor driving the beating device, by means of which the beating time may be regulated, the control means stopping the motor at the end of the beating period.
