Abstract

1,067,361. Tube connectors. WITANDA (1965) Ltd. Feb. 11, 1965 [Feb. 4, 1964], No. 4587/64. Heading F2G. A jointing device for tubes of other than circular cross-section consists of a central body-piece 10 from which project two or more connecting spigots 11 having generally the same cross-section as the interior of the tube 14 to be connected and including radiussed corners 12, there being an area of greatest cross-section distant from the attachment to the body-piece such that the spigot may be inserted and located in the non-circular tube and then rotated relative to it so that the said area of greatest cross-section may be caused to bind within the tube as at 15 to lock it to the spigot as in Fig. 3. Normally the spigots taper outwards from the boss to their outer end. There may also be a second area of greatest crosssection intermediate between the outer end of the spigot and the boss. Figs. 7 and 8 are similar to Fig. 3 and show pipes and connectors of triangular, hexagon and elliptical crosssections respectively. The connectors may be bored longitudinally to accommodate an electric cable or the like.
