Abstract
1,067,327. Electrophonic musical instruments. WARWICK ELECTRONICS Inc. June 22, 1964 [June 21, 1963], No. 25750/64. Heading G5J. An electric organ comprises a plurality of tone sources each being actuatable by a voltage which appears on the output terminal 23 of an associated gating circuit in consequence of each of the two input terminals 21, 22 thereof being brought within pre-determined voltage ranges by a function switch 17 and a key switch 14, respectively. As described, a function switch 17 changes the voltage upon its associated input terminals 21 from - 27 volts to - 2 volts, and a key switch 14 replaces an open-circuit upon its associated input terminals 22 by + 15 volts or + 22 volts, depending upon the position of switch 32, and the output from the selected gating circuit thereby allows its associated tone source to operate. The switches 14 are operated by keys 12 (Fig. 1, not shown), mounted upon a keyboard 13. The gating circuit, Fig. 3, comprises resistors 36, 37 and a diode 39, the output terminal being joined to one of the tone sources. Gating circuits with a diode replacing the resistor 36, or using a transistor are also described (Figs. 4 and 5, not shown). The tone sources may be connected to an amplifier feeding a loud-speaker.
