Abstract
1,067,045. Scrubbing gases; centrifugal separators. Y. BROYARD. April 9, 1964. No. 14621/64. Headings B1R and B2P. In an apparatus for removing dust from dust laden gases the dirty gas is introduced into a chamber 12 and together with scrubbing liquid admitted at 22 is formed into a free spiral vortex as described in Specification 1,064,695. (Gp. B1, B2) and which is passed downwardly through a tube 15 into a chamber 17 having a spiral-shaped passage 18 in which the free spiral vortex is unwound, the gas passing from passage 18 as a thin flat stream through a tangenitially disposed outlet into the annular space surrounding the tube 15 to separate the dust and liquid by centrifugal force before entering a chamber 10 with an outlet 11. The walls forming the duct 18 are curved in accordance with a logarithmic spiral and the duct is of rectangular cross-section and a substantially constant cross-sectional area.
