Abstract

1,066,351. Liquid sample cells for optical apparatus. DISTILLERS CO. Ltd. Jan.22, 1965 [Feb.18, 1964], No.6732/64. Heading G1P. A sample cell, for use in optical measurements on continuously flowing liquids which tend to build up deposits on the cell windows, has each transparent window in the form of a movable strip. As shown a pair of clamping plates 1, 2 have channels 11-13 providing liquid inlet ports and indents 7, 8 receiving protruding portions of a pair of distance pieces 5, 6, which press the clear films 3, 4, forming the transparent windows, against rebated areas of the clamping plates 1, 2. The films 3, 4, may be in the form of endless belts driven by sprocket wheels 20, 21, to pass from the cell through a cleansing bath Fig. 2 (not shown) before returning to the cell.
