Abstract

1,065,998. Packaging-machines. FORGROVE MACHINERY CO. Ltd. March 29, 1966 [May 4, 1965], No. 18751/65. Addition to 1,025,270. Heading B8C. In a modification of the machine described in Specification 1,025,270, equal numbers of pairs of grippers 5 and of die chambers 3, Fig. 1, (not shown), are provided, and the grippers are carried by the same ring 2 as the die chambers, the wrappers 400 travelling in a circular path concentric with and of the same radius as the circular path traversed by the die chambers and grippers. Each pair of grippers 5 includes fixed fingers 50 on brackets 52, and movable fingers 51 on pinions 53 rotatable on studs 54 fixed to the brackets 52 and meshed with a toothed segment 55 fixed to a shaft 56. The grippers are opened and closed by a lever 57 on the shaft 56 and carrying a roller 58 which coacts with a cam 59. Two springs 60 tend to urge the grippers either open or closed.
