Abstract
At least the surface region of at least the cutting edge of a razor blade comprises an oxide, nitride or boride of titanium. The compounds may be applied to a tough tool steel blade by electrodeposition followed by carburizing or nitriding: by electrophoretic deposition of metals and particles of the compounds: by salt-bath heat treatment; by flame-spraying: by resin-bonding: or by sintering and exposure of the blade to gases at elevated temperatures. The blades may subsequently be spark hardened.ALSO:At least the surface region of at least the cutting edge of a razor blade comprises an oxide, nitride or boride of titanium. The compound may be applied to a tough tool steel blade by flame spraying.
