Abstract
1,065,689. Frequency modulation. COMPAGNIE FRANCAISE THOMSON HOUSTON HOTCHKISS BRANDT. Aug. 28. 1964 [Aug. 28, 1963], No.35414/64. Heading H3R. A known symmetrical oscillator 1 is frequency modulated by connecting across the frequency determining tuned circuit 11, 12 through capacitors 35, 36, two parallel connected emitterfollower transistors 31, 32 whose base/emitter capacitance is varied by modulation applied to the bases from a source 40 over a low impedance attenuation circuit 41. The base biases are adjusted in common by a resistor network 37-39 for maximum linearity, and the frequency swing adjusted by the attenuator 41. In a modification a single capacitor may replace one of the transistors 31, 32. The oscillator output 26 is derived through an emitter follower 21. The oscillator and modulator may be enclosed in a thermostatically controlled closure.
