Abstract

1,064,302. Delivering sheets. HARRIS INTERTYPE CORPORATION. July 14, 1965 [Oct. 14, 1964], No. 29937/65. Heading B6H. A sheet delivery mechanism comprises a main pile hoist 14 for supporting a pile of sheets on a skid 15 and which is gradually lowered as sheets are continuously released from grippers 13 on a conveyer (12), and an intercepting auxiliary pile support comprising a number of tines 36 (see Fig. 3, not shown) insertable in a location above the main pile hoist and which can be moved manually from a position close to the conveyer (12) to a second lower position to enable a pile to form while the main pile is removed. The tines 36 are supported at one end in a base member 37 connected to side supports (39, 39a). The side supports are, in turn, carried on guide rail tracks 41, (42) located on opposite sides of the delivery mechanism. A transverse rail 43 interconnects the rails 41, (42) and forms a support for the free end of the tines. The rails 41 (42) are movable vertically relative to the conveyer by pivotal linkages (53, 56), 57 and shaft (60), Figs. 3 and 5 (not shown). The shaft 60 is coupled by gearing to similar mechanism at the other side of the mechanism and it has a hand lever (90) for moving the auxiliary pile support from the upper to lower position. Jogger plates 30, (31) are provided and are slotted to accommodate the auxiliary support and its movement into its two positions.
