Abstract

1331199 Feeding sheets MILLER PRINTING MACHINERY CO 25 March 1971 7792/71 Heading B8R Registering.-Sheets forwarded on tapes 60, 74, 84 and front registered against stops 102 carried on slower moving chains 98 are side registered by gripper 176, 188 supported on reciprocable carriage 114. As the carriage moves along support 106 the gripper engages the side edge of a sheet moving on the tapes and pulls the sheet laterally against a registration plate mounted on the carriage 114. Lateral movement of the gripper is caused by a roller 162, connected to the gripper, moving in angled cam track 156. The position of support 106 is adjustable laterally to alter the position of side register. A further side register device may be provided on the other side of the conveyer tapes. Air blast from pipes 44 serves to hold sheets down on the tapes.
