Abstract

1,064,234. Generating smoke. C. F. TAYLOR (ELECTRONICS) Ltd. May 12, 1965 [Feb. 19, 1964], No. 7019/64. Heading A5G. [Also in Division F4] Apparatus for heating a foaming mixture of oil and CO2 in the production of smoke as described in Specification 1,039,729, comprises a metal block A with a through boring B into which is forced a plug G, either the bore or the plug or both being formed to provide a sinuous passage for the fluid being heated. As shown the bore is plain and the plug screw threaded to form a helical passage L, the plug is secured by nuts H, and an inlet passage for the fluid and outlet for the smoke are provided by bores J in the ends of the bolt communicating by transverse bores K with the thread. The block is heated by an electric heater E controlled by a thermostat F. The bore B may be tapped and the plug plain, or both parts may be threaded with a slack fit and the plug held endwise by a lock nut to provide the helical passage.
