Abstract
Flat carrier materials are impregnated with polyester resins by treatment with solid polyesters and solid cross-linking agents, the impregnation being carried out from the melt. The flat carrier material may be glass fibre fabrics or mats, glass threads, textile fibre fabric and flocks or paper. The solid cross-linking agent may be diallyl isocyanurate or methyl allyl isocyanurate. In the example, a polyester formed from maleic and phthalic anhydrides, propylene-1,2-glycol and ethylene glycol is melted with diallyl isocyanurate. A strip of glass fibre material is passed through the melt, cooled and then passed through petroleum ether containing dicumyl peroxide and warmed and cooled.ALSO:Flat carrier materials are impregnated with polyester resins by treatment with solid polyesters and solid cross-linking agents, the impregnation being carried out from the melt.
