Abstract

A non-woven fibrous sheet comprises a batt of synthetic fibres of which 5-50% wt. are polypropylene fibres and 95-50% wt. are drawn polyethylene terephthalate fibres wherein the polypropylene fibres have been at least partially melted by heating above the m.p. thereof to bind the polyethylene terephthalate fibres together. The polypropylene fibres can be drawn, undrawn or a mixture thereof. The heating can be to above 165 DEG C, e.g. by hot-calendering at 185 DEG C. The fibres may be staple fibres or continuous filaments.
