Boat-disengaging gear.-A device for releasing ships' boats from the lowering falls when the boat is water borne is actuated by air compressed by water flowing into the device from outside the boat. The boat falls have rings 33 normally engaging notches 25 in spring- pressed bolts 23, adapted to slide in casings 26 attached by pillars 31 to the bottom of the boat. The bolts are connected by chains 19 passing over suitable guidepulleys to a cross-head 11 mounted on a rod connected to a piston moving in a cylinder 1. The space beneath the piston is connected through an inverted U-shaped air chamber 4, 5 to a pipe 12 leading to the outside of the boat. This pipe is adapted to be closed by a valve 16 actuated by a projection on the chain engaging a slot in the handle 17 as the piston rises and is adapted to be drained through a cock 13.
