Abstract
1,062,106. Packaging. CABOT CARBON Ltd. Oct. 1, 1965 [Nov. 12, 1964], No. 46073/64. Heading B8C. Filled and sealed bags 10 (Fig. 1, not shown) are re-shaped by a vibrating plate 15 suspended to rest on each bag in turn as it passes beneath the plate on a conveyer 12. In the form described the plate 15 is suspended by flexible resilient supports 16, such as rubber belts or leaf springs, adjustment being provided to allow for different thicknesses of bags. A vibrator 17 mounted on the plate 15 provides the vibratory motion of the plate, which is narrower than the bags being re-shaped so that the filling material may be dispersed into the sides and corners of the bags. Guides 20 may be provided at the sides of the conveyer 12, and the ends of the plate 15 may be curved upwardly (151, 152) to facilitate entry and emergence of the bags to and from the re-shaping position.
