Abstract

1,060,931. Intravenous administration. COR BIN-FARNSWORTH, Inc. April 12, 1965 [April 27, 1964], No. 15429/65. Heading ASR. [Also in Division G4] If the blood-drip feed rate departs from a predetermined standard the feed is cut off and an alarm operates. The standard is set up on a drop rate pulse generator 31. Blood drops from a reservoir 12 energize a photo-electric device 17. Pulses from 31 and 17 are fed to opposite sides of a main-drive flip-flop 32 and also through OR gate 41 to a flip-flop 37 which reverses at every input pulse. As long as the drip rate is matched to the desired rate flipflops 32, 37 remain in phase. If however two pulses from 31 or two pulses from 17 occur in succession then low-rate or high-rate alarm gate 52 or 53, respectively, opens to light lamp 55 and release solenoid 25, so cutting off the feed.
