Abstract

1,099,274. Automatic control of flying shears. ZAVODY V.I. LENINA PLZEN, NARODNI PODNIK. March 1, 1965 [March 2, 1964], No.8579/65. Heading G3R. In a control system for flying shears, signals UV1, UV2 representing respectively the speed of the material to be cut and the shear-speed are subtracted to form signal UV which is applied to integrator 1. When the material is being sheared, the speeds of the shears and material are synchronized, and, immediately afterwards, contact 1B is closed to discharge capacitor C through resistor R2. The integrator 1 is thus prevented from generating a signal during the discharge period, whereby signal VSl, representing the difference between the required cut length and the distance travelled by the shear-blades between two successive cuts, is fed to controller RS. The latter responds to vary the shear-speed in accordance with the magnitude and sense of the input signal. When the capacitor has discharged, the integrator comes into operation to generate signal US which is subtracted from the signal USl to produce a decreasing signal USR. When the latter has been reduced to zero, the cutting operation is effected.
