Abstract

106,083. Pletcher, O. May 4, 1916, [Convention date]. Razors, safety. The blade 13 of a safety razor is clamped between terminal plates 4, 5 of a handle comprising arms 1, 2 connected by a loop 3. The plate 5 is flat and has guard-ledges 10 connected to it by cranked bridges 11. The plate 4 is arched and has surfaces 12, which are parallel to the plate 5. Pins 6 on the plate 4 pass through holes in the plate 5, and a bolt 7 is engaged by a nut 9, by which the clamping is effected, the plate 4 becoming flattened so that the blade is stretched in the direction of the arrows 14, whilst remaining flat. The blade can be held between the arms 1, 2 for stropping, raised portions 16 entering holes 15 serving to lock it in position. In a modification, the plate 4 has two arched portions parallel to each other and united by a portion adapted to engage with the blade.
