An elevator mounted on a truck comprises flexible supports 20 secured to endless chains 18, 18a, 19, 19a passing around chain wheels 11-17, 11a-17a, the arrangement being such that the supports are horizontal on the upward run and on reaching the top of the upward run, pass over the chain wheels 11, 11a into the downward run in which they are vertical. In passing from the upward run to the downward run, the supports feed articles thereon to an overhead conveyer (not shown). The chain wheels 13, 14, 17, 13a, 14a, 17a and an operator's platform 22, Fig. 2 (not shown), are mounted on a frame which is vertical movable on masts (26) by means of a power-driven screw and nut mechanism (27, 28). The elevator as a whole may be movable vertically on the masts.
