Abstract

1,059,932. Endless conveyers. INSTITUT FRANCAIS DU PETROLE DES CARBURANTS ET LUBRIFIANTS. Feb. 11, 1964 [Feb. 12, 1963], No. 6730/64. Heading B8A. Apparatus for exerting a continuous pull on a flexible tube T formed of sections joined by connectors R of greater thickness than the tube comprises two grabs C 1 , C 2 of the " tracked " type (with shoes P carried on endless chains) so that tube portions in the grabs are aligned with the intermediate portion. The chains of each grab are spread as a connector arrives at that grab and closed as soon as the connector has passed. Opening and closing of the grabs C 1 , C 2 is effected automatically by magnetic devices (not shown). Several grabs may be used in series, at least one grab or another exerting a pull so that the pull is continuous.
