[Also in Division G3] An electrical system for a road vehicle in which an A.C. generator supplies power to the various consuming devices on the vehicle is provided with a voltage clipping device connected between the live generator terminal and earth, the device being arranged to break down when the voltage thereacross exceeds a predetermined value so that current is diverted from the load. The clipping device may comprise two Zener diodes connected back-to-back or a three-layer semi-conductor device with similar properties.
