Abstract

1451631 Electric protective arrangements CAV Ltd 18 Dec 1973 [6 Jan 1973] 892/73 Heading H2K A protective circuit is included in an electrical supply system wherein a generator charged battery 11 supplies a load 20, the battery being connected between first 16 and second 17 terminals and the load being connected between third 18 and fourth 19 terminals, there being a direct connection between the second and fourth terminals, and a normally closed relay contact 21 connected between the first and third terminals, the protection circuit being connected across the load to protect it from voltage surges during the period between the start of the surge and the opening of the relay contact. The protective circuit comprises a Zener diode 25. A further Zener diode 24 is connected in series with the relay coil 22 operating contacts 21 and conducts when the voltage across the first and second terminals exceeds the battery voltage by a predetermined amount. The circuit is described as used to supply power to an electronic fuel supply governor for a road vehicle.
