Abstract

1,059,308. Cathode-ray tubes. SYLVANIA ELECTRIC PRODUCTS Inc. March 17, 1965 [March 17, 1964], No. 11374/65. Heading HID. A cathode-ray tube electron gun, Fig. 1 (not shown), includes a first anode formed by two elements 53, 71 each comprising a tubular portion 55, 73 and an apertured endsection 27, 31, the tubular portions being telescoped one within the other with the aportured end sections oppositely disposed. The open end of element 71 is not in abutting engagement with clement 53 and the elements are maintained in axial alignment by at least three spaced crimps 85 on element 53 engaging the other element. As shown, two sets of three equi-spaced crimps 85, 63 onelement 53 respectively engage a frusto-conical end section 79 and a shoulder 76 of element 71. Alternatively, the crimps 63 may be replaced by a frusto-conical section of tubular portion 55, or may be omitted, tubular portion 73 then being formed with three equispaced' longitudinally-extending ridges which make element 71 a force-fit within element 53, Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown).
