Switches, quick-action. -In snap-action, multiple-way switches parti. cularly for use with electric heaters, wherein the switch blade carrier E is held while a spring J connecting the carrier to the turn knob B is strained, the retaining means consisting of a detent G on the carrier engaging notches H<1> in a fixed plate, the carrier is released by a cam M on the knob shaft A wiping over the tail G<1> of the detent and moving the head inwards. The notches are-shaped so that no movement of the carrier is obtained while the detent is being moved. Another part M<2> of the cam causes the detent to engage the next notch and also prevents backward movement of the switch. A positive connexion between the carrier and knob is made after a certain amount of turning movement by a shoulder M<3> on the cam and a pin F<2> on the carrier. The carrier is formed in two parts connected by a dog-clutch to facilitate manufacture.
