Abstract
1,057,262. Closing containers after filling. C. G. O. WEJNARTH. Jan. 22, 1965, No. 2955/65. Heading B8C. One of the side walls (4) (Fig. 2, not shown), of a self-erecting box 1 is pushed inwards after filling by one of the walls 12 (Fig. 4), of a support so that the top flaps (6) (Fig. 2, not shown), may be pushed down manually to lie tightly against each other. In the form shown, the wall 12 is pushed inwards by pads 21 on a pedal and lever device 15 (Fig. 4). The wall 12 may be flexible or rigid and hinged at its lower edge. The opposite wall 13 may be adjustable towards or away from the wall 12 so that various sizes of containers may be supported. In another embodiment, the container is filled while supported on a weighing machine (24) (Fig. 7, not shown), and conveyed on rollers (25) to the device previously described. The flaps (6) of the container which is preferably of plastics coated corrugated cardboard, may be secured by adhesive tape.
