Abstract
Aqueous emulsions of organopolysiloxanes are prepared using as emulsifying agent a water-soluble polymeric compound which contains amino nitrogen atoms linked to hydrogen atoms and halohydrin groups in the ratio 1:0.6 to 1:1.5 as well as high m.w. lipophilic residues. The emulsifying agents are prepared by reaction of compounds containing more than one primary and/or secondary amino groups with compounds containing epihalohydrin and/or more than one halohydrin group in the molecule. These may be prepared by the methods described and claimed in Specification 912,192 or by other known processes. The emulsion may also contain as hardener a chromium 111 complex of a phosphoric acid mono or diester of a higher fatty alcohol containing 12 to 18 carbon atoms, e.g. prepared according to Specification 805,150.ALSO:Textile materials are rendered water-repellant by impregnation with an orgno-polysiloxane emulsion which contains as emulsifying agent a water soluble polymeric compound containing amino nitrogen atoms linked to hydrogen atoms and halohydrin groups in the ratio 1:0.6 to 1:0.5 and also contains lipophilic residues. The emulsifying agents are prepared by reaction of compounds containing more than one primary and/or secondary amino group with compounds containing epihalohydrin and/or more than one halohydrin group in the molecule. An example describes the impregnation on a foulard of a wool fabric using a methylhydrogenpolysiloxane emulsified according to the invention and also containing an isopropanol solution of an alkyl phosphoric aicdchromium \yG complex prepared according to Specification 805,150.
