Abstract

The compositions used are based on anionic surfactants and comprise (1) 2 to 50% by weight of an anionic surfactant, 6 to 50% by weight of component (2) and/or (3), component (2) being a water-insoluble or sparingly water-soluble reaction product of molecular weight 2000 to 7000 obtainable from (a1) a 1- to 6-hydric aliphatic alcohol of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, a monoalkyl- or monoalkylol-monoamine, an alkylenediamine or a polyalkylenepolyamine, and (a2) a low molecular weight aliphatic monoepoxide or a mixture of such monoepoxides, and component (3) being a water insoluble aliphatic monoalcohol of at least 8 carbon atoms, a mixture of such monoalcohols, their sparingly water-soluble alkylene oxide adducts or a sparingly water-soluble alkylphenol-alkylene oxide adduct, (4) silicone oil in amounts of up to 30% by weight, and (5) 20 to 92% by weight of water, the weight percentages being based on the composition and always adding up to 100%. <??>The method is particularly suitable for defoaming aqueous dyeing or finishing baths for textile materials.
