Abstract

1,056,800. Glazing bar assemblies. WILLIAM & WILLIAMS Ltd. Dec. 23, 1964 [Oct. 23, 1963], No. 41849/63. Heading E1R. A glazing bar assembly comprises a girder 2 Fig. 6 with a web 1 and on one or both sides formed to provide a channel 3a constituted by one side of the web 1 and a wall 3 formed to provide a support 4 for a pane 7 and a resilient cover strip 5 having a laterally extending part 6 bearing resiliently on the upper face of the pane 7, a lower part lying within the channel 3a and bearing on the wall 3, and a retaining part 8 which engages one of a series of abutments 9 in the form of ribs on the web serving to prevent upward movement of the strip 5 and maintain the strip part 6 in contact with the pane. An intermediate spacing member 14 may sit on the support 4 and wall 3 to raise the level of the pane 7a above that of the pane 7. Similar members may be used to space two panes one above the other to form a double glazed assembly (Fig. 7, not shown). The cover strip may take the form in which an intermediate portion 11 (Fig. 2, not shown) contacts one of the ribs 9 on the web 1. In another modification (Fig. 3 and 4, not shown) contact with the ribs is made by a tongue pressed out from the portion 11b instead of the portion 11c.
