Abstract
1,056,476. Moulds, continuous casting. SHIP CARBON CO. OF GREAT BRITAIN'LTD. Dec. 3, 1965 [Dec. 3, 1964], No.49236/64. Heading B3F. [Also in Division F2] A mould for use in continuous casting is made from impermeable graphite which has been produced by impregnating graphite with a thermosetting condensation type resin, the latter being cured by maintaining the temperature of the graphite at up to 150‹ C. for at least twenty hours, the temperature of the impregnated graphite then being slowly raised at a rate not exceeding 20‹ C. per hour up to 250‹ C., the temperature afterwards being raised at a rate not exceeding 50‹ C. per hour up to at least 720‹ C., and the temperature subsequently being raised by not more than 100‹ C. per hour up to at least 900‹ C. The heat treatment is effected in an inert atmosphere.
