Abstract

1,055,938. Mechanical switches without quick action. KIGASS Ltd. Nov. 1, 1965 [Oct. 30, 1964; May 3, 1965], Nos. 44293/64 and 18440/65. Heading H2B. [Also in Divisions A4 and F1] A flexible chamber pump for a windscreen washer operated by manual reciprocation of a plunger, is combined with a switch for controlling the operation of the windscreen wiper motor, the switch being actuated by rotary motion of the plunger. The switch comprises a movable contact carrier 30 having a hexagonal aperture through which the plunger 25 is slidable (Fig. 1, not shown) and carrying a spring-loaded contact 29 guided in or on a lug 33 and engageable with pairs of fixed contacts 28 (Fig. 2, 3, not shown). A resilient strap 36 extends from the lug 33 and is formed with a pip 37. An arcuate flange (38, Fig. 2, not shown) extends from the end wall of the pump housing between the strap 36 and the carrier 3 and is formed on its outer surface with a number of recesses, corresponding to the number of fixed contacts, to receive the pip 37. The resilient strap 36 may be omitted and the recesses are then formed on the inner surface of the flange (38) these recesses being engageable by a spring-loaded ball in a pocket in the carrier 30.
