Abstract
1,055,891. Burners. KERAMATIK G.m.b.H. July 3, 1963 [Dec. 17, 1962], No. 26323/63. Heading F4T. A liquid or gaseous fuel burner for a kiln comprises a vertical fuel/air supply tube 4 opening into a kiln combustion space and having a lower section 13 which is heated by radiation from the kiln combustion space to vaporize the fuel. An air supply pipe 5 enters the upper section 3 of the tube 4 which has a removable end cap 10. An oil pipe 6 supplies oil to a distributer ring 8 which spreads oil over the inner surface of the lower section 13 where it is vaporized. The air and vaporized oil mix are blown through a nozzle 9 into the kiln combustion space. The burner tube 4 is of steel or a ceramic and is mounted for axial movement in a cover-plate 11 fitted in a mounting flange 12 in a fire tube 2 of the kiln 1. In a further embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), the oil is supplied to the lower section 13 of the burner tube by an oil pipe coiled around the outside of the tube 4 and in which the oil is vaporized. In a further embodiment, Fig. 5 (not shown), the oil is supplied by a pipe extending through the end cap 10 and ending at the centre of the tube 4. Adjacent and axial to the outlet of this pipe is a rod along whose outer surface the oil flows to be vaporized. If the tube 4 is used horizontally it has an elliptical cross-section.
